In February 2015, in London, a Beit Issie Shapiro event brought together members of the Jewish community who are concerned about the rising global tide of anti-Semitism and Israel boycotts, and who see Beit Issie Shapiro as a model of Israeli entrepreneurship and social change.
Addressing this event hosted by Israeli Ambassador to the UK, Daniel Taub together with the UK Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro, keynote speaker, Dr. Qanta Ahmed defied most of the usual stereotypes. She’s a staunch defender of Israel, and also a deeply committed Muslim. On her first ever trip to Israel in 2013, Ahmed addressed the Beit Issie Shapiro community on the role of democracy in the protection of minorities.
At the event, His Excellency Ambassador Daniel Taub said, “Beit Issie Shapiro is a truly remarkable combination of care and innovation – using cutting edge technologies to improve the quality of life of disabled children. It is deeply moving to see how, through sharing its unique approaches Beit Issie Shapiro has helped build bridges throughout Israeli society and across the world.”
