Beit Issie Shapiro has Special Consultative Status with the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2012. This Status provides Beit Issie Shapiro with the opportunity to broaden its global network, learn about global trends and challenges, share its best practices and bring new knowledge to Israel. Since receiving the Status, Beit Issie Shapiro has actively participated in the annual Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) at the UN in New York City, presenting on the main podium, as well as organizing and speaking at side events.

Beit Issie Shapiro also leads, together with the Israeli NGO Bizhut, a civil society coalition focusing on the implementation of the CRPD in Israel, following its ratification in 2012.
