CP Center of Excellence

Beit Issie Shapiro is committed to ensuring the fulfillment of the right of every child with Cerebral Palsy (CP) to a life of maximized independence and participation in family and community life. In tackling dependency, one of the greatest challenges facing this target group, we positively impact on the child’s self-esteem, motivation, extent of social interaction and quality of life.

Our work focuses on two different areas of change: our services for children in Israel with CP and our advocacy work for national and international systemic change with regard to fulfilling due rights of people with CP.

Beit Issie Shapior’s Special Education School serves children with CP and mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Each child benefits from a specialized academic curriculum and an individualized treatment plan, including the use of appropriate therapies adapted to address specific needs and abilities. Our professional staff focuses on developing innovative ways of equipping students with the skills for becoming more independent. For example, our school was the first to focus on toilet-training children with CP. Furthermore, we pioneered the integration of iPads into daily routines and have uncovered many latent skills, particularly for children who have difficulty using their hands.
