Israel-Prize for Lifetime Achievement Awarded to Beit Issie Shapiro Founder, Naomi Stuchiner
We are delighted and proud to share the wonderful news that the Israel Prize this year for Lifetime Achievement and Special Contribution to Society will be awarded to Beit Issie Shapiro’s Founder, Naomi Stuchiner. The Israel Prize is the most prestigious award in Israel, given to those who have contributed significantly to Israeli culture or displayed excellence in their field and is regarded as the State of Israel’s highest cultural honor. The Israel Prize is awarded annually, on Israel’s Independence Day, in a state ceremony in Jerusalem, in the presence of the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Knesset, and the Supreme Court President. |
The prize committee stated that: “In less than 40 years, Beit Issie Shapiro has become a center that positively affects the lives of over half a million Israelis each year. Under Naomi’s leadership, the organization has turned into a vehicle for social change for those with disabilities and a significant symbol of Israel’s voluntary sector. Stuchiner’s belief in the voluntary sector’s ability to bring about important social changes and a better future for the Israeli society propel her to work tirelessly in order to advance and strengthen this sector”. Beit Issie Shapiro’s CEO, Ahmir Lerner added: “Naomi has dedicated her life to Beit Issie Shapiro and to improving the lives of people with disabilities and their families, and there is no one more deserving to be awarded this Lifetime Achievement prize. Naomi’s win reflects the enormous appreciation of her and towards Beit Issie Shapiro, and we will continue to fulfill her extraordinary vision for many years to come.” |
